In my writing I’ve noticed
I hardly ever use
the words ‘very’ or ‘not.’
I daresay I did at one time
but these days scarcely a lot.
Some writers find them beneficial
but I’ve gradually come to see them
as distinctly unhelpful as such.
How useful would I say they are for me?
Well, if I had to confess, I’d say not very much.
